Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

In terms of current attitudes towards private health insurance, there is research to suggest that the number of Australians deciding to walk away from private health insurance is actually on the rise. In APRAs quarterly report for March 2019, data shows that only 53% of the Australian population has General Treatment cover, which includes Dental, Optical, Physiotherapy and Remedial Massage, and Chiropractic (APRA, 2019). With the increase in premiums for private health insurance, younger and healthier people are either choosing to decline private health insurance completely, or being driven out of the system altogether. According to Citi Analyst, Nigel Pattaway, “there doesn’t seem to be enough attraction for young people to come into the system per se” (The Age, Pg 4-5, 06/07/2019). This sentiment is similarly supported by Roy Morgan, the research firm, who found that just 43% of 25-39 year-olds with private health insurance regarded it as essential, compared to 68% of 60-69 year-olds (The Age, Pg 4-5, 06/07/2019).

  • Personalised Support – You will have a course coach assigned to you when you enrol. They will be there to guide and support you through your journey.
  • Online Community –  Learning online doesn’t have to be lonely! Join our online student community group, and interact with your peers and your course coaches. Keep each other motivated, ask questions and have a discussion.
  • Expertly Developed Learning – All of the course materials have been specially developed so that you receive the information in short 5-10 minute videos, to break the content into easy to understand lessons. At the end of the videos, you will complete a quick knowledge check, to make sure you were listening! You can replay lessons (and knowledge checks) as many times as you like. You will also complete theory assessments from your online dashboard, and practical assessments via Skype with your course coach.  You can sit lessons, complete assessments, receive feedback and check your progress anywhere, anytime!
  •  Clinic Support –  Student Clinic is the culmination of all that you learn in your program.  To ensure we have provided you with all the skills and knowledge you need to enter the massage industry successfully, it is a requirement that you complete some clinical training at a NETQ Training Clinic (Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Sydney & Melbourne). This will give you the opportunity to perfect your skills and get experience treating a range of clients with varying conditions.

There will be a mix of knowledge-checks, theory assessments and practical assessments. Knowledge-checks will be completed as you go through the online lessons. Theory assessments will be completed via our online platform, cloud assess. You will also have Skype sessions with your course coach to demonstrate understanding and competency.

At the final stage of the course, you will be required to complete supervised practical training hours. We have different options for students to complete the final part of their study, to best suit individual needs. If you want to meet the current guidelines to be recognised by the majority of health funds to be eligible for private provider numbers, we have an option that will suit. If being able to offer health fund rebates is not a priority, and you would prefer the flexibility of minimal on-site course requirements, then we have an option that will still meet all the national training requirements. We would recommend speaking with one of our Online Career Specialists to see which option may be right for you.

As the majority of your training, assessment and support is delivered online, you’re required to have a computer or tablet with internet capability to access the program.  Your computer or tablet should also have a camera to allow you to participate in your one-on-one Skype sessions.  In addition, we recommend a good quality massage table.  Firm ‘n’ Fold or Athlegen have a wide range of quality tables.  For more individualised advice please speak to your course coach.

Q Academy will provide you with on oil bottle and holster as well as a student uniform shirt for you to wear during your on-campus clinic training.

Our online courses represent great value for money. For eligible students, student loan funding options may be available to cover the full cost of eligible courses.

The HLT42015 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy and HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage are both nationally recognised qualifications. They have been designed to meet all of the VET quality framework guides.

NETQ’s courses are recognised by industry associations,  Association of Massage Therapists (AMT) and Massage & Myotherapy Australia (MMA). Graduates of this course may apply for membership with any of these associations, after graduation, once they have received their Record of Results.

To meet the current guidelines to be recognised by a number of health funds (excluding Medibank) to be eligible for private provider numbers, you will need to complete 200 hours of clinical practice at a NETQ Training Clinic (Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Sydney or Melbourne). If being able to offer Remedial massage rebates with ALL health funds is a key objective, then we strongly advise studying Q Academy’s on-site HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage, which is fully eligible and compliant.

We start a new online group on the first Monday of every month.
